The Controller oversees all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for DAC Group.  The Controller ensures that the accounting department meets the highest standards for quality, accuracy, timeliness and control. The successful incumbent will be reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and lead a team of approximately 10 accounting and finance professionals.


Financial Results and Reporting

  • Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial results for DAC Group and operating companies including leading the financial consolidation in a multi-currency environment (approximately 20 operating entities and holding companies across North America and Europe)
  • Responsible for coordination and execution of effective and efficient year-end audit and review engagements with external accountants including coordination of interim review activities
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Collect, interpret, and report financial data while gleaning insight from financial results with an increasing focus on analytics

Financial Systems and Operational Efficiencies

  • Review and evaluate accounting team structure and systems to support operational and business goals and to meet the needs and objectives of a growing company
  • Play a leadership role in the finance-related integration of new ventures and acquisitions
  • Review, recommend, and assist in the evolution of systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of internal accounting and finance services

Short and Long Term Planning

  • Work with the Senior Director of Finance and Finance Managers to coordinate monthly and annual financial reports as well as budget-related management functions
  • Assist with both short and longer term planning and forecasting of company results including P+L balance sheet, and cash flow

Invoicing and Accounts Payable

  • Through the accounts receivable team, ensure accurate, timely, and complete issuance and processing of outbound invoices
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the accounts payable team to ensure accurate and timely processing in incoming invoices

Stewardship, Taxes, Controls, and Compliance

  • Protect corporate assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing appropriate internal controls over processes and financial assets
  • Assist in calculations, recording, coordination, and maintenance of shareholder records and share transactions
  • Coordinate necessary calculations, support, and documentation for equity based management bonuses and distribution payments
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and submission of appropriate income and input tax returns and related filings (working with external tax advisors)
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and other regulatory requirements

Sales Commissions and Incentive Models

  • Compile sales incentive and profit sharing information based on review and discussions with Senior Director of Finance / VPs / CFO / CEO


  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department
  • Responsible for assigning work, setting objectives, and evaluating performance of the accounting team
  • Promote effective teamwork, feedback, and guidance to direct and indirect finance reports for continuous learning and development
  • Provide strong and supported fact-based recommendations
  • Manage accounting staff by recruiting, orienting, training, and coaching employees
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional groups and events


  • Complete/execute other special projects that may arise from time-to-time as requested by the Senior Director of Finance, CFO, or CEO


  • 7+ years of progressive work experience in Finance/Accounting
  • 3+ years of direct managerial/leadership experience
  • Experience in an advertising agency environment is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of US/Canadian GAAP and best practices is strongly preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in Business specializing in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent field
  • Professional Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA, etc.) is required
  • Experience working with mid-size companies (100-500 staff) is preferred, but not essential
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in an environment of shifting priorities
  • Superior communication skills including oral and business writing
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining positive team spirit, and a collaborative, consultative working style
